We all need a little designer treat in our lives from time to time, but if you can’t afford the couture dress you want, a cheaper way of owning a label is to treat yourself to a bottle of scent.
This new eau de parfum from Alexander McQueen, from £55 (stores nationwide) is a lighter, fresher version of McQueen Parfum. Under the directorship of Sarah Burton – who designed the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress – this is a glorious piece of luxury.
The scent is based on night flowers that use their scent to attract insects, echoing the exotic mystique of McQueen couture. Sambac Jasmine, Tuberose and Ylang Ylang are combined with black pepper, clove and pink pepper to make it a warm, spicy floral scent. And of course, the bottle is stunning – it’s tactile, classy and elegant in its simplicity.
